If you're going to give an ex-pro with zero experience a managerial role, then it helps if they are intelligent. Lampard meets that criterion so I think he has a decent chance of being a success.

I thought they played in roughly Tottenham colours.
I checked, and found that they did, from 1971-1989.
I think I've just dated myself.

No player would respect him if he tried having a go at them and not all players appreciate having an arm around their shoulder.
He'll be shit.
Plus what Vexed said.

Well, it's a really good opportunity and he's clearly got it because of who he is rather than how qualified he is.
Fair play to him for not stamping his feet and demanding a premier league or 'top' job straight away, but it's a first job most aspiring mangers could only dream of.
We'll soon see if he's got what it takes although he never really struck me as much of a leader. He will have the respect of the players to start with, but that'll wear off if his ideas are poor.

If he is a success you just know who's going to take over from Pellegrini, don't you?!
It's the West Ham way.

was interesting hearing his uncle say he was the best trainer he'd seen, especially when he was a player alongside Bonds (who was the best trainer he'd have seen), and that his nephew was about two stone overweight while with us. i wish him the worst

I don't know, something about him makes me think he will not be a success as a manager. I don't think he has what it takes.

I hope he turns out to be a great Championship manager, gets poached by Chelsea when Conte's successor turns out to be not good enough, and, for some reason, is shit at managing in the Premier League.
Not that I'm bitter...

I think he will do well. He seems bright and has been around football all his life. I'd only question his motivation down the line and if he really wants it. He must have enough wealth. When it's gets sticky, will he want to stick at it?
